These are the important steps for supporting a project.
1. Finding a project
As with everything, the first encounter is important
First of all, look for a project that catches your eye among the Current Projects on the web page.
2. Learn about the project
It’s important that you learn all about projects that catch your eye.
The project owner explains the attraction of their project on their project page with easy to understand movies, text and diagrams.
After you’ve read and listened to the explanation, feel free to contact the project owner if there’s something you want to know more about.
The project owner will definitely get back to you.
3. After you’ve found a project to support
After you’ve found a project you want to support with an attractive return or gift, click “Support”. This takes you to the registration screen.
Have your credit card information ready.
First read the terms and conditions and the guidelines.
Please also note that some projects are unable to meet expectations. Consequently, it may not be possible to provide the promised return or gift, such as acknowledgement of supporters in the project paper and so on. Please understand this before offering support.
4. Register as a member (login or register).
The email address is used to send you important notices such as mailing of returns or gifts, invitations to science cafés, confirmation of records and the like, so register an email address that you check regularly.
*If you log in with Facebook or Twitter, email will be sent to the address registered with Facebook or Twitter. Check that the address registered with Facebook or Twitter is one that you check regularly.
5. Decide how much support funding to give.
Decide how much support funding you want to give. We offer two types of crowdfunding, purchase and donation. If you choose purchase-type support, the amount that you actually pay includes 8% consumption tax.
If you don’t need a return, you can select the “3,000 yen” return for example, and adjust the amount in the additional support field. Also, if you don’t require a gift, please say so in Remarks.
6. Write a message to the project owner.
Please write an encouraging message of support to the project owner.
Note that the message you write will appear with your name in Comments on the project page.
7. Enter your credit card information.
Entering your credit card information completes your application.
Payment on the site is by credit card only (Visa or MasterCard). (We provide other methods such as bank transfer if you don’t have a credit card. Please contact us for more information.)
8. Tell your friends!
If the amount of target funding isn’t reached, the project won’t be established, and undertaking it will be difficult. Please tell your friends and family about the project, and promote it on Facebook and Twitter to help it succeed.
